Abigail Johnson

Abigail Johnson, a Pennsylvania native, began her writing journey during a cross-country move to Arizona at twelve, a trip she documented in a purple notebook she still keeps. Johnson's writing career in the young adult genre includes notable works like If I Fix You and Every Other Weekend.

Despite becoming a tetraplegic after a car accident at seventeen, she embraced life's adventures, including bodysurfing in Mexico and directing a high-school play.

Her debut novel, If I Fix You" (2016), is a contemporary young adult story. It explores the life of sixteen-year-old Jill Whitaker, who grapples with her mother's sudden departure and the ensuing family secrets. As Jill navigates her broken world, she encounters Daniel, a new neighbor with his own hidden scars, leading her to realize that fixing others starts with mending her own life.

In Girl on the Run (2020), a young adult thriller, Johnson introduces Katelyn, who inadvertently exposes her mother's mysterious past through an online dating profile. This revelation launches them into danger, forcing Katelyn to unravel long-concealed secrets. The book was recognized as a 2023 Missouri Gateway Book Award Winner and a 2021 YALSA Quick Picks for Reluctant Readers Nominee.

Her latest novel, Every Time You Go Away (2023), continues her foray into contemporary young adult fiction.
